Social media and networking sites are the most convenient and used mediums of communication in present times. People across the globe connect freely through it.

    But, there are some countries in the world which has limitations and restrictions on the use of social media. Here is the list of 10 such countries.

    Countries where Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other Social channels are not accessible

    1. Pakistan has often been a country where the government controls the internet activity of its people, especially related religion. There have been incidents when Pakistan blocked the pages of Facebook and also accessed to the website after some blasphemous content posted that is against Islam.
    2. Mauritius blocked the access to Facebook for its citizens after a fake profile of the then Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam came into notice. The ban lifted after a few hours; however, the country is now extra speculative of the activities on internet.
    3. Syria is a country going through a long and impending civil war. The country had blocked Facebook since 2007 when the government was speculative of Israel infiltrating through social media sites.
    4. Bangladesh: The post about a cartoon of Prophet Mohammad created a lot of fury in the various Islamic countries. Like Pakistan, Bangladesh also took strict actions against the same, and the Website banned there for a while in the country.

    5. China: There is a lot of censorship in China, And the Social Media Networking sites like Facebook, etc. are banned in the country and is only accessible to few users in the Free Trade Zone in Shanghai.
    6. Iran: The Islamic country is quite orthodox in terms of liberty of opinions and communication. In that sense, it is not a big deal if we discover that Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube blocked in Iran.
    7. North Korea: It is one of the hideous countries in the world. With its highly tight security and cut-off lifestyle from the external world, none of the global internet sites are available.

    8. Cuba, the South American country, which is otherwise liberal, has limited access to social networking sites. The reason may be limited access to the internet at home. The general public does not have internet services easily available at their residences, and cafes are too expensive as compared to their income.
    9. Egypt: During the 2011 agitation in Egypt, there were a lot of movements and call for actions through social media posts. The government cut off access to internet and various social media site. The ban was  lifted after few days.
    10. Eritrea: The African country is touted as the most censored nations in the world. It had often blocked YouTube in 2013. It also has limited access to the internet due to bad infrastructure.
